The motivation of this workshop is to discuss future directions of content authoring in the field of Augmented Reality, as well as to discuss the current state of art on content creation and asset assembly. The workshop will comprise of a paper session where papers, late-breaking results and overviews over state-of-the-art in content authoring for AR are presented. In the afternoon, we will follow up with a discussion on different topics ranging from AR asset creation to content distribution and a closing session.
Our goal is to collect ideas and thoughts of research about desired approaches for authoring content for AR, as well as review current and future needs to achieve a high quality content and at the same time scalable approaches for AR.

Call for Papers

The workshop on Authoring Solutions for Augmented Reality will be an opportunity to present short authoring or content creation papers on topics relevant for Mixed and Augmented Reality. We are seeking to capture the state of the art as well as discussing future concepts ranging from a casual user to the day-to-day workflow of an expert.
To present at the workshop, submit a 4-page paper using the TVCG paper template for ISMAR 2011 papers (available here http://www.cs.sfu.ca/~vis/Tasks/camera.html) to ismarauthoringworkshop@icg.tugraz.at.
The submitted papers will be reviewed by the organizing committee and selected for presentation. Authors will be notified of the results and a final deadline for submitting the final version. For continuously updated information refer to the workshop webpage. A plain-text version of the call for papers can be found here.

Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

Tools and Technologies

  • libraries
  • protocols
  • workflows

Interaction concepts for creating content in and for AR

  • interaction concepts, e.g. input devices and modalities
  • extending or beyond CAD, e.g. sketch based interfaces and widgets

In-situ creation and assembly for AR

  • crowd sourcing, with focus on non-expert
  • non-spatial content, such as annotations, audio, ambient data etc. pp.
